1. General Terms of Service:
Overview of Our Services:
Our platform offers two key services: donations and membership sign-ups. Here’s an overview of how each process works:
• Donation Process: Donations can be processed through our Donation Page, which offers four donation tiers and a custom amount option for flexibility in contribution. Once a donation amount is selected, the payment can be completed securely via our checkout process.
• Membership Sign-Up Process: Memberships are processed through our Membership Options Page, where four membership tiers are available for sign-up. After selecting a membership tier, you will be directed to the membership sign-up form to create an account. This includes entering an email address and setting up a password.
• Checkout and Payment: After signing up, the system routes you to the Checkout Page to fill in your credit card and address details to complete your membership setup.
• Post-Sign-Up Information: Once your membership is processed, you will receive confirmation emails with:
o A link to access your membership site, where your benefits and product links are available.
o Membership profile details that allow you to review your membership status and make changes, including updating payment information or canceling your membership.
Definitions:
• Donor: A donor is an individual or organization that contributes funds or resources to Sustainable Society through the Donation Page. Donors can choose from pre-defined donation tiers or a custom donation amount. Donations are non-refundable unless specified otherwise.
• Membership Tier: A membership tier refers to the different levels of membership offered by Sustainable Society, each providing varying benefits and access to exclusive content, events, or services. Members can select from multiple membership tiers based on their preference and desired level of support.
• Subscription: A subscription is a recurring payment made by a member in exchange for continuous access to services, content, or benefits provided by Sustainable Society. Subscriptions are billed on a regular basis (e.g., monthly, annually) depending on the chosen membership tier.
2. Payment Terms:
• Accepted Payment Methods:
o Squarespace Payments: We accept credit card payments for donations and membership subscriptions through Squarespace Payments. This includes major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
o PayPal: For marketing campaigns and some special fundraisers, we also accept payments via PayPal. PayPal will be used for campaigns run through Constant Contact and fundraising events hosted on GoFundMe. Payments for donations and memberships are processed securely, and all payment information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
• Payment Process, Currency, and Taxes:
o Currency: Squarespace Payments processes all payments in US Dollars (USD). This applies to donations, membership fees, and proceeds from fundraising events, which are processed in the USA region.
o Tax-Deductible Donations: As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity, all donations made to Sustainable Society are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult your tax advisor for details on how donations may apply to your taxes.
o Sales Tax: Purchases made for Sustainable Merchandise in our online store may be subject to local sales taxes, depending on your location and applicable local tax laws. These taxes are calculated at checkout based on your shipping address.
3. Upgrading and Downgrading Membership:
• Members can easily upgrade or downgrade their membership by visiting the Membership Options page. We offer flexible tiers to allow you to adjust your membership based on your evolving needs.
o Upgrading Membership: You can move to a higher membership tier at any time by selecting the desired tier on the Membership Options page. The new tier will take effect immediately upon payment.
o Downgrading Membership: You can downgrade your membership to a lower tier at any time. Please note that the downgrade will take effect at the end of your current billing cycle, and you will retain access to the higher-tier benefits until that time.
Cancellation: If you are upgrading or downgrading, you are responsible for manually canceling your previous membership tier. No refunds will be issued for canceled memberships, even if you are within the current billing cycle. This flexibility ensures you can adapt your membership to suit your personal preferences or needs while maintaining access to exclusive content and events.
