What Do We Do
Our annual SVTIC event is a community gathering of government officials, university researchers, and industrial leaders to discuss current challenges and brainstorm innovative long-term solutions to elevate our society beyond its existing infrastructure. It is also a community celebration that recognizes and honors individuals, businesses, charities, and organizations for their distinguished leadership and contributions to society.
Through our monthly video presentations, we track progress on the scorecards generated from the SVTIC event and present collaborative training programs in partnership with corporations to proactively prepare the next generation of the workforce.
We also facilitate scientific research with strategic partners in Silicon Valley through joint efforts to combat global warming and improve the healthcare system.
"Love and passion are essential.
Wisdom, empathy, respect, and compassion are the keys to a sustainable future."
– A Message from the Heart
Biography of Chris Christie Chou: Founder of Sustainable Society
Chris Christie Chou is a Taiwanese American immigrant and the youngest child of a gold miner in early 20th-century Japanese-occupied Formosa 寶島 (means Beautiful Island now Taiwan). With a strong foundation in accounting from the renowned Ming Chuan Junior College in 1980, she embarked on an international career at the Swiss conglomerate Cosa Lieberman in Taipei. Her journey continued in the United States, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from California State University, Sacramento, in 1990.
Christie built an impressive career as an Accounting Manager and Controller for two international high-tech companies in the Bay Area. Following her father’s legacy, she served as a Financial Analyst at Placer Dome Inc., a premier international gold mining company, at its U.S. headquarters in San Francisco in the late 1990s.
During the Silicon Valley tech boom at the dawn of the millennium, she expanded her expertise through consulting engagements with prominent global companies such as SGI, Flextronics, Altera, Guidant, VeriFone, Franklin Templeton, and Trimble Navigation. Her projects spanned international accounting consolidation, system implementation, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, financial forecasting, and mergers and acquisitions. Her final project with VeriFone inspired her transition to philanthropy, culminating in the founding of Sustainable Society in May 2012.
A disciplined and detail-oriented professional, Christie credits her beloved mother for instilling in her a compassionate and goal-oriented mindset. Her consulting experience underscored the importance of strategic global structures, innovation, streamlined processes, and collaborative communication to achieve impactful results.
As a global citizen reflecting on humanity’s role in climate change, Christie recognizes the urgency of restoring Earth to its natural glory for future generations. She views this as a moral obligation and is committed to working with like-minded individuals worldwide to transform society into a sustainable one. She emphasizes that with today’s advanced technology and global cooperation, combating climate change is both possible and necessary.
Christie is profoundly grateful to the doctors who saved her life after a spinal injury, religious leaders who provided spiritual enlightenment, her loving family who supported her passion, and the Silicon Valley leaders who embraced her vision during the inaugural 2012 SVTIC event for Sustainable Society. Above all, she acknowledges the compassionate mentors and steadfast challengers who shaped her journey and commitment to sustainability.
For Christie, life is a journey of rediscovery, where every encounter contributes to the intricate tapestry of existence. She is inspired by the progress made by global leaders and unsung heroes in the fight for sustainability and is eager to contribute to the next chapter of this vital mission.
Christie’s Message
“Every life is precious and has a purpose.
Stand up for your physical and mental well-being, and never give up.
Loving yourself and others is the best way to honor those who care about you.
The rest doesn’t matter.”
