President, Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV)

Marianna Grossman serves as the President and Executive Director of Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV), a consortium of over 130 businesses, governments, research institutions, and civic organizations founded in 2001. Since joining SSV in 2009, Marianna has focused on steering Silicon Valley toward a more sustainable future by addressing high-priority environmental issues and fostering a strong economy, healthy environment, and equitable community.

Among her notable achievements at SSV:

• Spearheading the development of the EcoCloud™ project

• Organizing the WEST Summit

• Assisting Santa Clara University in implementing a smart microgrid for its campus

• Facilitating long-term planning for a state-of-the-art Silicon Valley business park

• Leading a successful rebranding of the organization

• Collaborating with NASA Ames Research Center on a Showcase of Solutions for Planetary Sustainability

SSV focuses on building the capacity of sustainability leaders, businesses, and communities while piloting innovative solutions that bridge the gap between policy and action. By leveraging advanced technology from its partners, SSV aims to create a sustainable region and inspire global progress.

Marianna also has a strong record of community leadership, having founded the Palo Alto Unified School District Sustainable Schools Committee and convened the Peninsula/South Bay Working Group of California Interfaith Power and Light.

Marianna earned an MBA from Yale University and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), cum laude, with distinction in Policy Studies from Dartmouth College.
